CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT

Red River College Polytechnic is committed to ensuring the confidentiality of its records and information including the personal and health information of employees. In keeping with the College’s set of values, Article 14 “Conduct of Employees” in the collective agreement, and legislation - The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), all employees, including those hired through Employment Agreements, are required to sign the confidentiality statement.

I, the undersigned, have read and understand the Freedom of Information Protection of Privacy Policy – G3 and the Conflict of Interest Policy – P3 (4.6), with respect to confidentiality and hereby commit that I will keep as confidential and not disclose either orally or in writing, to any unauthorized person including other College staff, the public or family, any confidential information or records acquired by me in the course of my duties or received by virtue of my official position with the College. I further understand that this obligation shall continue following the end of my employment or association with the College.

I also understand that “confidential information” or “confidential records” means any information or record not readily available to the public or other college employees outside of their job requirements, whether that information relates to a student, staff member, volunteer, management, the Board of Governors, or the business and affairs of the College. I specifically acknowledge that confidential information includes “personal information” and “personal health information” as defined by FIPPA and PHIA.

I commit to respecting the privacy and confidences of all members of the college, staff, students, management and the Board of Governors, obtained in the course of College duties or my association with the College, and shall do so in compliance with College policy and as required by law. I acknowledge that this does not prevent me from disclosing wrongdoing as defined by the Public Interest Disclosure Whistleblower Protection – Policy P2.

I shall only access information in the custody or control of the College when required for the performance of my duties for the College, and shall use such information for only that purpose. I will limit my access to that information which I require to perform my duties.

I will dispose of any confidential documents in compliance with College policies and shall handle and dispose of confidential information as prescribed by the College.
