Same Day Crisis Appointment Request

Usually, counselling appointments are booked in advance. Typically, a first time counselling appointment can be booked within 1-2 weeks. Subsequent appointments are then scheduled with your counsellor or by our administrative assistant at times that work best for you.

However, we understand that students may experience urgent situations or problems that they feel need immediate attention. We work hard to make ourselves available for you in these times.

If you believe the situation you are experiencing cannot wait for a regularly scheduled appointment and may result in serious consequences or distress, then please complete this form and respond to all questions so we can find the most appropriate person for you to speak with. This may include counselling staff or other support staff.

Once you complete and submit this form, we will contact you within 24 hours during regular business hours. Should you experience an urgent or crisis situation outside of regular business hours, please note that there are excellent community crisis resources that are available 24/7.

Information shared in counselling sessions will not be shared with anyone unless there are concerns regarding your safety or the safety of others.

Personal information collected during the intake process will be used by Student Counselling Services for service delivery and planning purposes as per the Red River College Polytechnic Act and in compliance with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Act. For more information, visit https://www.rrc.ca/legal/policies/freedom-of-information-and-protection-of-privacy/. Absent an exception allowed by law, application and student information cannot be provided to anyone other than the student unless the student has provided written consent to Student Counselling Services.

Counselling Services has received your Same Day Crisis Request. Someone from our office will be in touch with you within 24 hours during business hours.
